Selection, context, and ranking method
Searching for an "AI rank tracker" or a "Perplexity rank tracker" assumes the tool will tell you where you rank: a position, like a classic Google rank tracker. In practice, most tools sold into this category do something different: they tell you whether your brand was mentioned in an AI answer, and how (share of voice, sentiment, citation links), without ever assigning a number for where you stand.
Both are useful. But they answer different questions, and the SERP for this exact query doesn't draw the distinction. The top results are single-vendor product pages and thin agency roundups, none of which checked, tool by tool, whether the product actually returns a rank. We fetched each vendor's own pricing or product page to find out. The evidence for each verdict is quoted in its entry below.
Every tool on this page passed our quality gate: structured research, sourced facts (pricing verified on official pages), on-topic fit, and freshness. The "shows a rank?" verdict is fresh research, not carried over: each vendor's own pricing/product page was fetched live, and the exact evidence is quoted next to every verdict. No tool paid for placement. Each of the 17 tools was classified as showing a literal rank or presence-only mention data, using only what its own product and pricing pages state today: 5 confirm a numeric or ordinal position, the other 12 report presence, citation share, or mention framing instead. That classification is not the vendor's own marketing category; several tools branded as rank trackers turned out to belong in the presence-only group once their pages were actually read.
The ranking
Editor’s pick
#1
Rankscale
Credit-based AI visibility tracker for brand mentions, citations and sentiment across 17+ AI engines.
Best forEnterprise marketing teams and agencies that need broad AI-engine coverage plus MCP access
The clearest fit for "I want a literal rank": RankScale's own dashboard guide documents a numeric Position metric (with stated benchmarks like "#1–3 on branded, ≥#6 on non-branded") layered on top of visibility %, sentiment and citation tracking across 17+ engines.
- #2

Nightwatch
Rank tracker that also tracks brand citations in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode and AI Overviews.
Best forSEO agencies and in-house teams that want classic rank tracking and six-engine AI visibility in one dashboard, with citation-level attribution for AI answers.
The other confirmed rank-shower: Nightwatch's AI-tracking page explicitly promises "average ranking position within list-based answers" and its dashboard mockup shows a literal position figure (e.g. "#1 +12%"), inherited from its classic Google/Bing rank-tracker heritage rather than bolted on.
- #3

RankLens
AI brand visibility tracker measuring how LLMs mention and rank a brand, with a Visibility Index.
Best forbrands and agencies that want free, broad-engine AI-visibility tracking and are comfortable relying on a not-yet-independently-reviewed product
A genuine third rank-shower rather than another visibility tool: RankLens's own methodology page documents a "Rank (Avg/High/Low)" figure on its Brand Match metric ("the order recommendations are mentioned") layered on its wider five-metric scorecard, and it's free with the widest named-engine list (8) of any confirmed rank-shower here. The catch is a still-open, 20-month "Beta" with zero independent reviews found anywhere.
- #4

AI Search Watcher
LLM rank tracker from Mangools, tracking brand mentions across eight AI search engines.
Best forteams already using or considering Mangools' KWFinder/SERPWatcher suite
The fourth confirmed rank-shower, from an unexpected source: Mangools' own AI Search Watcher page, titled "Accurate & Affordable LLM Rank Tracker", states it "delivers accurate average positions, visibility scores, and citation insights," backed by a 12-year-old, profitable SEO company (KWFinder, SERPWatcher) rather than a single-purpose AI-visibility startup, at the cheapest standalone entry price in this category.
- #5

LLMrefs
AI search analytics tracking brand mentions, rank, share of voice and citations across ten answer engines.
A fifth confirmed rank-shower: LLMrefs' own dashboard displays a literal "Rank #N" figure and a numeric "Position" column per tracked prompt, alongside its composite LLMrefs Score: a genuine ordinal rank rather than a share-of-voice number. The catch is the same one flagged on its own listing: an independent hands-on review scored its data accuracy and freshness 2/5 each, citing a monthly (not more frequent) refresh cadence.
- #6

OtterlyAI
AI search monitoring for brand mentions and website citations across seven answer engines.
Best forMarketing, SEO and content teams taking their first serious measurement of AI-search visibility, who want a self-serve start rather than a sales call.
A real AI-visibility baseline tool, but "rank tracker" is a misnomer here: Otterly reports citations, link-position changes and whether a brand is "recommended enthusiastically, mentioned with caveats, or dismissed outright". That is presence and framing, not a numeric rank.
- #7

Peec AI
Tracks brand visibility, position and sentiment in AI answers, with source, competitor and crawler reporting.
Best formid-market marketing teams and agencies running AI-visibility programs
Peec names "Position" as one of its three core metrics (alongside Visibility and Sentiment) on its own homepage, which is the strongest presence-vs-rank signal of the non-confirmed tools here. But its pricing page renders prices via client-side JavaScript and no worked rank example could be pulled from a live fetch, so treat "shows a rank" as plausible, not confirmed.
- #8

SE Visible
AI visibility monitoring for brand mentions, sentiment, competitors and cited sources across five answer engines.
Best forsmall agencies or SEO teams already on SE Ranking
Bundled with SE Ranking's classic SEO suite, but the AI-tracking layer itself is presence-only: it tracks "visibility trends and brand sentiment" and which domains/URLs drive mentions, with no numeric AI rank of its own.
- #9

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
Semrush subscription for tracking brand mentions and citations in AI search answers.
Best forexisting Semrush SEO and Content customers who want AI-answer visibility added
Uses the word "rankings" loosely in its own marketing ("daily AI rankings") but the underlying product is presence/mention tracking, not a numeric position, and the confirmed $99/mo entry price requires annual billing.
Visit Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit ↗Read the review →Get a quote →From $99/domain/month billed annually - #10

Morningscore
All-in-one SEO and GEO platform tracking Google, AI Overviews and ChatGPT brand visibility.
Best forSmall agencies and small-to-midsize marketing teams
Branded a "ChatGPT Rank Tracker," but its own product page describes the feature as tracking whether a brand is mentioned in a ChatGPT reply (highlighted green if found): a presence check, not a rank. Worth flagging precisely because the name promises what the product doesn't do.
- #11

LLM Pulse
AI search visibility and GEO platform tracking brand mentions, citations and sentiment across five AI models.
Best forsmall teams and agencies wanting self-serve AI visibility tracking with API, CLI and MCP access
Presence-only, with one wrinkle: LLM Pulse folds position into a single "position-weighted AI visibility score" rather than surfacing a Rank (Avg/High/Low) or a literal "#N" the way RankLens or Mangools do, so position is an input to one composite score, not something read off the dashboard as a rank. Its real differentiator is engine breadth: 14 named engines, more than any other tool in this category, including Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen, MiniMax, Mistral and Amazon Rufus.
- #12

Local Dominator AI Tracker
AI visibility tracking across six AI engines, inside a local SEO and Google Maps platform.
Best forlocal SEO agencies and multi-location businesses
Presence-only, and says so itself: Local Dominator's own AI Tracker page and FAQ explicitly distinguish it from the platform's separate Geo Grid Scans rank-tracking feature, framing AI Tracker as visibility/presence over time rather than a position. It bundles AI-visibility tracking with local-SEO agency tooling (Google Maps geo-grid, Business Profile management) and is confirmed to also cover Perplexity, though Local Falcon (below) offers the same local-agency bundle, so this isn't the only one anymore.
Best formulti-location or franchise businesses
Presence-only, explicitly: Local Falcon's own AI Search Visibility feature page states "there are no rankings—just inclusion or exclusion," reporting a Share of AI Voice (SAIV) percentage and a Buyer Persuasion Score instead of a literal rank. Its real differentiator is geo-grid sampling: re-running a tracked prompt across every point in a service-area grid rather than one averaged brand-level check. It also bundles that with the same local-agency tooling (classic Google/Apple Maps geo-grid rank tracking, Falcon Guard Business Profile monitoring) as Local Dominator AI Tracker above, so the two are direct competitors for a local-SEO agency's budget.
- #14

SEORCE
Unified SEO and AI visibility platform that tracks brand citations across 10 platforms and ships the fixes.
Presence-only: SEORCE's AI Beacon dashboard reports "Citation share" percentages and comparative positioning against named competitors, not a literal ordinal rank number, despite a separate "Rank Tracker" feature name that might suggest otherwise. Its real differentiator is bundling that AI-answer tracking with classic SEO (rank tracking, backlinks, technical audits) and AI content generation in one platform, on a genuine $0-forever free tier.
- #15

AI Sightline
Monitors brand mentions across six AI platforms, tracks AI referral traffic, and ranks fixes by predicted score lift.
Best forA team that wants a free, low-friction first look at AI answer visibility, and that specifically needs server-side AI referral traffic attribution rather than just mention tracking.
Presence-only, not a rank-shower: AI Sightline's own homepage describes tracking "citations, sentiment, and share of voice," with no literal "#N" rank surfaced anywhere. Its real differentiator is a genuine $0-forever tier (2 of 6 engines, 100 API calls/month, read-only MCP access) and server-side AI-referral traffic attribution, a distinct capability most rivals in this set don't offer at any price. The catch: full 6-engine coverage, the recommendations engine and sentiment scoring all sit at $149.95/mo or above, and the whole product is a five-month-old, single-founder launch with one public review.
- #16

Keyword.com AI Visibility
Credit-metered brand visibility tracking across AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and six more engines.
Best forAgencies tracking Google rankings and AI-engine brand mentions (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude) in one dashboard with API and MCP access
Presence-only: keyword.com's own AI Mode Tracker page describes the feature as "brand mentions, citations, competitor share — inside the AI summary itself," explicitly distinguished from its classic Google rank tracker rather than reusing that product's numeric-position model. The real draw is breadth: 9 to 10 AI engines including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, two REST APIs and a 56-tool MCP server, unlimited seats, bundled with a mature Google/local rank tracker. The catch is pricing: the vendor's own pages disagree on entry and API-tier costs by several dollars, and AI visibility runs on a limited credit pool (20 on trial, 15 on the entry AI plan) rather than unlimited pulls.
- #17

TrueRanker
SEO suite combining daily Google rank tracking with weekly AI visibility monitoring across four LLMs.
Best forSEO teams that want a cheap, established rank tracker with AI-visibility bundled in.
Presence-only despite the name: TrueRanker's AI Visibility module reports Mentions-vs-Citations and an exact Share of Voice percentage per engine, with no literal rank figure found on its own pages. The site's "see how your brand ranks in real-time" marketing line describes trend monitoring, not an assigned position. The module is a real, useful add-on bundled at every tier including the cheapest, backed by an unusually credible track record for this category: live since 2019, two named founders who personally answer customer questions, 17 independently-verifiable Capterra reviews. It tracks four engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity), not six, with no Copilot or Google AI Overviews, and AI-prompt volume is small (5 on the entry tier).

- #18

Distribb
AI SEO platform that researches keywords, writes and publishes articles, builds backlinks and tracks AI citations.
Best forSaaS founders, agencies, and developer-led growth teams who don't want to run SEO, content writing, link outreach, and AI-visibility tracking as four separate vendor relationships.
- #19

AEOlens
AEO/GEO audit and AI buyer simulation across five answer engines, with server-side AI crawler tracking.
Best forFounders, growth marketers and SEO agencies that want to monitor AI citation readiness on their own domains or run AI visibility audits on client sites under their own brand.
- #20

WhyIQ AI Radar
Tracks whether AI answer engines cite your domain, week over week, with white-label client reports.
Best forThe growth lead or agency operator who wants a recurring, multi-engine AI citation read at a flat monthly price without per-engine gating.
Best forB2B brands and PR/marketing agencies running both Chinese and Western AI visibility programs from one workspace.

Frequently asked questions
- Do AI rank trackers actually show a rank?
- Not always. Of the 17 tools most commonly marketed into the "AI rank tracking" category, only 5 (RankScale, Nightwatch, RankLens, Mangools AI Search Watcher and LLMrefs) confirm a literal numeric or ordinal position on their own product pages. The other 12, including Morningscore, whose product is literally named "ChatGPT Rank Tracker," and SEORCE, whose "Rank Tracker" feature reports citation-share percentages rather than a rank number, report presence or mention data (whether your brand appeared, and how it was framed) rather than a rank number. Check the comparison table below for the verified evidence on each tool.
- Is there a Perplexity-specific rank tracker?
- No tool in this category tracks Perplexity exclusively: most of the 17 tools here track Perplexity as one of several AI engines alongside ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini or Claude. The two confirmed exceptions are Mangools AI Search Watcher (tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Mistral and Llama) and Local Falcon (tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Grok); neither tracks Perplexity. If Perplexity is your main concern, prioritize a tool that confirms Perplexity coverage and check whether it reports a rank (RankScale, Nightwatch, RankLens, LLMrefs) or presence only (the rest) for that use case.
- What's the difference between an AI rank tracker and an AI visibility tool?
- In practice, the terms are used interchangeably by vendors, but they describe two different outputs. A rank tracker (in the literal sense) returns a position or rank: where your brand sits versus competitors for a given prompt. A visibility tool reports presence: was your brand mentioned, cited or linked, and in what tone. Most "AI rank tracking" products are visibility tools wearing a rank-tracker name; this page verifies which is which.
- Which AI rank tracker should I use?
- If you specifically want a numeric rank/position output, start with RankScale ($20/mo, 17+ engines) or Nightwatch (€79/mo, classic rank-tracker heritage with white-label reporting). RankLens (free, still Beta, zero independent reviews) and Mangools AI Search Watcher ($15.60/mo, no Perplexity) also confirm a rank, at a lower price than either, worth a look if budget matters more than a proven track record. LLMrefs ($79/mo flat, every engine, unlimited seats) confirms a rank too, but an independent review scored its data accuracy and freshness 2/5 each; treat it as directional, not diagnostic. If presence/mention tracking is enough (most buyers researching this category are fine with that), Otterly AI ($29/mo) is the cheapest credible baseline.
- Which AI rank tracker fits a local business or multi-location agency?
- Two tools here are built specifically for that buyer, not a single-brand marketing team: Local Falcon and Local Dominator AI Tracker. Both are presence-only and both bundle the AI-answer check with classic Google Maps geo-grid rank tracking and Business Profile management, so an agency isn't buying a second subscription just for AI visibility. Local Falcon re-runs each check across every point in a service-area grid, its Share of AI Voice metric, starting at $24.99/month with AI tracking on every tier; its own dedicated feature page and llms.txt confirm ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Grok, not Perplexity. Local Dominator AI Tracker checks presence brand-wide rather than per grid point, starts at $39/month, and does track Perplexity alongside ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Gemini, plus unlimited team and client seats on every paid tier. Pick Local Falcon for per-location grid detail and a longer track record; pick Local Dominator for Perplexity coverage or unlimited seats.
