Our verdict
AEOlens is built for the team that wants to fix pages, not just watch a dashboard.
The audit is its centre of gravity: 48 checks that end in a snippet you can paste, rather than a score and a shrug. Pair that with a simulation that names the competitor cited in your place, and you get a short list of things to do on Monday morning. It is priced for that audience too.
Every tier is published, the first audit is free and needs no account, and the Agency plan carries white-label exports at a level where most tools of this scope route you to a sales call. It stops where an enterprise buyer would want it to keep going. Copilot and DeepSeek are absent from the standard simulation set. The BI connectors and several deployment integrations are on the roadmap rather than in the product.
It is a young company and the track record is short. Take it if the job is auditing and fixing your own pages across the main engines, on a published price. If you need Copilot coverage, deep BI plumbing or a long reference list, look at Profound, Otterly or Peec.ai.
What is AEOlens?
AEOlens scores how well a page is built for AI citation, then simulates real buyer questions across five answer engines to show where a brand gets cited, where it ranks and where it is missing entirely. The audit looks at content, schema, technical and structural signals.
The simulation puts buyer-intent prompts through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, and reports citation rate, average position, sentiment, and which competitors were recommended instead. A server-side tracker captures AI crawlers at the edge, so bots that never run JavaScript still get counted.
What does AEOlens do?
Three products share one workspace. The structural audit crawls both the raw HTML and the rendered page, runs 48 checks and returns a 0-100 score split across content, technical, schema and structure. Every failing check comes with a prioritised fix, including the JSON-LD snippet or meta tag to paste.
The AI Buyer Simulation runs 25 buyer-intent prompts through five models and reports, per engine, how often the brand is cited, where it places, how it is described, and which competitors turned up on the same question. That last part is the useful half: it names who is taking the answer when you are not in it.
AI Agent Analytics reads server logs forwarded from Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, Next.js middleware or Nginx, and shows which AI crawlers reached the site, from which network, which pages they took and how that moves week to week. Because it reads logs rather than a script on the page, it sees the crawlers that never execute JavaScript. A JSON API and CI/CD hooks let a team fail a build when a page drops below a chosen AEO score.
How AEOlens works
- Paste your URL into the homepage scanner; AEOlens crawls raw HTML and rendered output without requiring an account
- Get a 0-100 AEO score broken into content, technical, schema and structure, with every failing check paired to a prioritised fix and copy-paste code
- Run the AI Buyer Simulation: 25 prompts through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, with per-engine citation rate, position and sentiment plus named competitors
- Install a server-side integration (Vercel log drain, Cloudflare Workers, Next.js middleware, Nginx log forwarding or generic HTTP beacon) to capture AI bot hits without adding JavaScript to your pages
- Receive score-drop alerts and weekly digests over email, webhook, or in Slack or Discord; export to PDF, Markdown or JSON, or pull into GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or CircleCI as a build gate
Key features
- 48-check structural AEO audit
- Crawls raw HTML and rendered output (30 checks on Free, 48 on paid), scores 0-100 across content, technical, schema and structure, and pairs every failing check with prioritised copy-paste fixes including JSON-LD and meta tag rewrites
- AI Buyer Simulation across 5 models
- 25 buyer-intent prompts per run through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok with per-engine citation rate, position and sentiment; 4 simulations per month on Starter, 15 on Growth, 40 on Agency
- Custom prompt runs
- Run your own buyer questions through the 5 models (e.g. "best tool for X?") at 15 per month on Starter, 50 on Growth, 200 on Agency
- Server-side AI bot capture
- Edge log forwarding from Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, Next.js middleware or Nginx so GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Bytespider, Google-Extended and Meta-ExternalAgent hits are recorded without any JavaScript on the customer site
- Brand monitoring on 5 platforms
- Tracks X, Reddit, Hacker News, Product Hunt and GitHub mentions on Growth and Agency; 2-hour refresh on X and Reddit so teams catch live threads while they still affect AI citation
- White-label PDF and Markdown exports
- On the Agency tier: your logo and brand name on every PDF, Markdown brief and shareable scan link, with 365-day scan history and multi-domain crawler analytics; set via the workspace branding API
- JSON API and CI/CD hooks
- Drop-in snippets for GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and CircleCI; supports a build gate that fails deploys when AEO score regresses below your threshold
- Free llms.txt and robots.txt generators
- Included on every plan; produces an llms.txt file telling AI models what your site is about and a robots.txt file that controls which AI bots can fetch which pages
What are AEOlens's use cases?
- Diagnose why a page is not cited by ChatGPT
- A growth team sees traffic flat in GA4 and uses AEOlens to scan the category page. The audit flags missing FAQPage schema, no llms.txt and an H1 that buries the answer. They ship the prioritised fixes and re-score; simulation shows ChatGPT citation moving from absent to position 1 across the buyer prompts.
- Track AI bots that bypass JavaScript analytics
- SEO team discovers that ChatGPT and Claude crawlers visit their product pages but never fire their GA4 events. AEOlens server-side capture logs GPTBot and ClaudeBot hits by ASN, shows which pages are crawled, and alerts when crawl volume drops.
- Resell AI visibility audits to clients under an agency brand
- An SEO agency buys the Agency tier, turns on white-label with their own logo and brand name, runs the 48-check audit plus 5-model simulation on each client, and exports branded PDFs. The agency math on the for-agencies page shows 10 audits per month at $500 each against a $249 cost basis.
- Block an AI visibility regression before deploy
- Engineering wires the AEOlens GitHub Actions snippet into the deploy pipeline. When a merge drops the AEO score below the agreed threshold, the build fails and the PR is held until the score recovers.
Who is AEOlens for?
- Founders and growth teams who need an AEO score they can act on without an SEO agency
- In-house SEO and content teams running GEO programs across one brand site
- SEO and PR agencies that want to resell AI visibility audits to clients under their own brand
- Engineering teams that want a CI gate that fails the build when AEO score regresses
Not forEnterprise buyers who need a sales-led contract, named customer references, Microsoft Copilot or DeepSeek in the simulation, or fully shipped integrations with the major BI tools.
