AI visibility monitoring

Tools in this category run a fixed panel of prompts against several AI engines on a schedule, then log for each response whether the brand was named, whether it was cited as a source, where it appeared relative to competitors, and what tone the answer used. Those readings roll up into dashboards for share of voice and citation rate over time. It is not one defined metric. Vendors bundle different components (mentions, citations, position, sentiment) into their own composite "visibility score," so two tools measuring the same brand can report different numbers because they weight and define the underlying pieces differently. It is also not the same discipline as GEO: monitoring measures presence, GEO is the content work aimed at improving it. Where it breaks: AI answers are not deterministic, so a single run against a frozen prompt set can miss a real mention that a slightly different query would have surfaced. A score built on a narrow prompt list understates a brand's actual presence, and none of these tools cover every engine a buyer might use.
