The short answer
Perplexity started testing ads in the US on 12 November 2024, as sponsored follow-up questions and ads beside an answer. It never published a sign-up page, a price list, a minimum spend or a list of countries. In February 2026 the Financial Times reported, quoting a Perplexity executive, that the company had stopped selling ads. Perplexity has not said so on a page of its own. If you want to buy ads on Perplexity today, there is no public way to do it.
What Perplexity sold
Perplexity announced the test in a post on 12 November 2024. In its words: "Ads will appear in the US to start and will be formatted as sponsored follow-up questions and paid media positioned to the side of an answer."
- Sponsored follow-up questions. A question shown under an answer, labeled "sponsored". The answer to it was still written by Perplexity: answers "will still be generated by our technology, and not written or edited by the brands sponsoring the questions."
- Ads beside an answer. "Paid media positioned to the side of an answer."
Perplexity named its first brand and agency partners: Indeed, Whole Foods Market, Universal McCann and PMG. It called the programme "an experiment" and said "formats may evolve".
It also made two promises: "the content of the answers you receive on Perplexity will not be influenced by advertisers", and "we will never share your personal information with advertisers."

Where the programme stands
On 18 February 2026 MacRumors reported, citing the Financial Times, that Perplexity had dropped advertising over concerns about users' trust in its answers. Perplexity has published nothing of its own since its 2024 post, neither a new ad product nor an end to the old one. Treat the programme as closed until Perplexity says otherwise on its own site.
