The State of GEO & AI-Visibility Tools 2026 — A Landscape Report

An analysis of the 44 most-researched AI-visibility and GEO tools: pricing, engine coverage, API availability and market segments, from verified, sourced listings.

A neutral, sourced, data-driven landscape report — built from CitedIndex’s quality-gated listings corpus and designed to be cited by marketers, journalists, and AI systems tracking how brands compete for visibility in answer engines. Every figure below is computed directly from the structured listings; the generator that produces this page is checked into the repository.

Executive Summary

The AI-visibility (GEO/AEO) market has matured from a speculative category into a working discipline. 44 credible tools now offer monitoring across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other major answer engines. This report examines the landscape across pricing, engine coverage, API availability, and positioning, based on structured listings published by CitedIndex.

Key findings:

  • 70% of tools offer programmatic API access (31/44) — the market has standardized on integration-ready tooling, not just dashboards.
  • ChatGPT monitoring is universal (43/44 tools); Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google Gemini coverage is near-universal (35/44 and 33/44 and 35/44, respectively).
  • Entry prices span $15.60–$99/month for self-serve teams; enterprise tiers are custom-priced in most cases.
  • 23/44 tools offer a confirmed free trial — ranging from 3 to 14 days — a market shift from early-stage “free-forever” promises to gated trials.
  • 6/44 tools have no paid tier at all — self-hosted or open-source, free indefinitely rather than time-trialed.
  • No single tool dominates: the landscape splits into four segments by entry price — free / open-source (no paid tier), entry-level self-serve (≤$99/mo), mid-market multi-engine ($100–$300/mo), and enterprise (custom pricing or $300+).

Landscape Overview: 44 Tools, Four Market Segments

Segment 1: Free / Open-Source (No Paid Tier)

Tools in this segment: 6

Tool Entry Price Free Trial Engines (tagged) API
auto-geo Free Not documented 4+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Claude)
Canonry Free Not documented 4+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Perplexity)
RankLens Free Not documented 4+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Claude)
Archytas AISpy Free Not documented 5+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)
Syntropic AI Visibility Audit Free Not documented 3+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews)
GEOrank Free Not documented Not itemized

Positioning: Tools with no paid tier at all — the opposite pricing model from every other segment here. Most (auto-geo, Canonry, Syntropic AI Visibility Audit, GEOrank) are self-hosted or CLI-based and require the user’s own LLM/DataForSEO API keys, so the real ongoing cost is small, variable per-run API usage rather than a subscription; Archytas AISpy is a free downloadable desktop app on the same bring-your-own-key model. RankLens is the exception worth a caveat: it’s a free hosted SaaS rather than self-hosted, but “free” here means “free during an open-ended Beta with no published pricing roadmap” (about 20 months and counting), not a committed permanent tier the way an open-source license is. GEOrank’s own hosted demo is free with no account for 5 generator tools, but its interactive diagnostics/Q&A tools require a sign-up gated behind a Chinese mobile phone number. The fit is developer-led teams and solo operators comfortable with a CLI, self-hosted stack, or an unproven Beta in exchange for zero licensing cost, not marketing teams wanting a managed, permanently-priced dashboard.

Ubersuggest $29 7 days 3+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews)
Qwairy €65 14 days 6+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews)
Rank Prompt $49 7 days 5+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews)

Positioning: Designed for first-time GEO buyers and small agencies. Entry prices cluster from $15.60 up through the $59–€99 band, reflecting a “no longer free” market that has standardized on low-friction SaaS pricing. The tier-based pricing model is common — teams trade engine coverage (ChatGPT-only vs. ChatGPT + Gemini + Claude) for cost, which makes plan selection matter. One entry in this segment, Sleepwalker, doesn’t fit the monthly-subscription framing at all — it bills pay-as-you-go per credit (from €0.02/credit) rather than a flat monthly tier, so its low headline number reflects a different pricing model, not a cheaper subscription.

Segment 3: Mid-Market Multi-Engine ($100–$300/month)

Tools in this segment: 5

Tool Entry Price Free Trial Engines (tagged) API
Scrunch AI $250 7 days 5+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google Gemini, Claude)
AthenaHQ $295 Not documented 3+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)
Searchable $124.99 Not documented 2+ (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews)
GEO Tool From €299 Not documented 4+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews)
Trakkr $100 14 days 5+ (ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)

Positioning: For marketing teams and agencies running GEO alongside SEO, with enough budget for multi-engine coverage and API integration. Their entry tiers start above $100/mo, making them the move for teams outgrowing entry-level tools.

Segment 4: Enterprise & Custom-Priced (Sales-Led)

Tools in this segment: 4

Tool Entry Price Free Trial Engines (tagged) API
Evertune $800 Not documented 6+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot)
Goodie AI $399 7 days 6+ (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews)
Gauge $599 7 days 5+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews)
geoSurge Custom Not documented 3+ (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude)

Positioning: For enterprise brands and large agencies managing many client accounts. Custom, sales-led pricing is the rule — these tools reserve enterprise-grade features (white-label reports, broad engine coverage, SSO/SAML, dedicated support) for contract conversations.

Data-Driven Findings

1. Engine Coverage: ChatGPT Universal; Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google Gemini Now Table-Stakes

Universal coverage:

  • ChatGPT: 43/44 (98%) — the table-stakes baseline.

Near-universal:

  • Perplexity: 35/44 (80%)
  • Google AI Overviews: 33/44 (75%)
  • Google Gemini: 35/44 (80%)

High but split (15–26/44) — the real differentiator:

  • Claude: 26/44 (59%)
  • Microsoft Copilot: 15/44 (34%)

Interpretation: ChatGPT is the mandatory baseline; Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google Gemini are now table-stakes. Coverage of Claude and Microsoft Copilot is the real differentiator — teams must confirm engine support before buying, as mid-tier plans often exclude secondary engines. (Counts here reflect only the engines tagged as structured data in the listings corpus; several vendors advertise additional engines — Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI — on higher tiers, but only in prose, so they are excluded from these figures rather than estimated.)

2. API Access is Now Market-Standard (70%, 31/44)

Tools with published API access: 31/44 tools (70%).

Tools without published API: 13/44 tools (30%).

Key finding: API access is no longer a premium, enterprise-only feature. Even entry-tier self-serve tools include API or MCP access, enabling teams to pipe GEO data into their own reporting dashboards or BI tools.

3. Free Trials: Confirmed Dates Are Now the Norm

Confirmed free-trial offers (23/44 tools):

  • 30-day: 1 tool (4% of tools with a confirmed trial)
  • 14-day: 6 tools (26% of tools with a confirmed trial)
  • 10-day: 1 tool (4% of tools with a confirmed trial)
  • 7-day: 13 tools (57% of tools with a confirmed trial)
  • 3-day: 2 tools (9% of tools with a confirmed trial)

Unclear or undocumented trial status (21/44 tools): trial availability is not stated clearly, is marked uncertain in sources, or is a free credit rather than a recurring trial.

4 priced tools — Promptwatch, GEO Tool, Ubersuggest and geoSurge — publish an ongoing free-forever tier alongside real paid plans, a partial exception to the shift toward gated trials (see each listing for that tier’s exact caps). This is distinct from Segment 1’s 6 tools, which have no paid tier at all.

Methodology

This report is computed directly from CitedIndex’s quality-gated listings corpus (v2 methodology; tools verified 2026-07-23–2026-07-25, per tool — see each listing’s own verification date), by the generator at scripts/generate-geo-report.ts:

  • Entry price is each tool’s lowest real paid tier — a “$0” free-credit tier or a “Custom”/“Contact sales” tier is not counted as a price. Segments are defined on that entry price: Free/Open-Source = no paid tier found anywhere in the tool’s published pricing; Entry ≤$99/mo; Mid-Market $100–$300/mo; Enterprise & Custom = custom-priced or above $300/mo.
  • API availability is marked only where the listing’s structured apiAvailable field is set.
  • Free-trial days are counted only where the listing states a specific number; conflicting, unclear, or credit-only cases are reported as undocumented rather than assigned a figure.
  • Engine coverage is counted only from the structured tagSlugs field. Engines mentioned only in prose are excluded from the counts, so no figure in this report is hand-entered.
