# Which AI-Visibility Tools Can Your Own AI Agent Actually Query?

An AI-visibility tool's entire job is watching what ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews say about a brand — so it's a natural candidate for a use case none of these products were originally built for: letting an AI agent pull that data directly, mid-conversation, without a human opening a dashboard. That's exactly what [MCP (Model Context Protocol)](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/) support means in practice — a Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT session can ask "how are we doing in AI search this week" and get a real answer instead of a screenshot. We went through all 58 tools in our own index and checked which ones actually ship it. **18 of 58 (31%) confirm MCP support in some form — but only 8 of those ship it without gating it behind a specific paid tier, a third-party subscription, or a fully custom-quoted deal.**

## How we classified each tool

Every listing in our index is researched and sourced against the vendor's own live pricing and product pages. We searched that existing research — not a new survey — for any statement about MCP, and sorted what we found into six groups:

1. **Included, no extra gate** — ships on the cheapest paid tier, or as part of a free/open-source core; not held back for a premium plan.
2. **Gated to a specific higher tier** — the vendor confirms MCP support, but only from a named tier up (cheaper tiers explicitly don't get it).
3. **Available but meaningfully restricted** — MCP access exists, but is read-only, requires a separate paid subscription to a third party, or is bundled only into a fully custom-quoted deal with no self-serve option.
4. **Mentioned, tier/detail not specified** — the listing confirms an MCP integration exists but our sourced research didn't pin down which tier it requires.
5. **Explicitly not available yet, roadmap** — the vendor confirms it doesn't ship MCP today but names it as a planned feature.
6. **Explicitly not available, no roadmap stated** — the vendor's own materials rule out MCP/programmatic access entirely.

Everything else — 36 of the 58 tools — simply never came up in our research either way. That's the honest, and largest, category: **not stated, not confirmed absent.** We're not counting silence as a "no."

## The real pattern: being young is common to the open tools, but it doesn't predict the outcome

Line up the eight "included, no extra gate" tools — Bloomiro, Canonry, Sleepwalker, Rankshift, Trakkr, Qwairy, Rank Prompt, geoSurge — against the vendors that gate MCP behind a specific tier, and one direction of the pattern holds cleanly: **all eight unrestricted tools are young products with a thin or nonexistent independent review-platform presence.** Canonry is four months old at review with a single primary maintainer; Sleepwalker runs on a single-maintainer GitHub repo; Rankshift's own cons list it as "a new entrant with no submitted user reviews yet"; Bloomiro's only third-party mention is a 5-point Show HN post; Trakkr was founded in 2025 by a first-time AI-visibility vendor; Qwairy's own company background beyond its marketing site and a 30-review G2 listing is thin; Rank Prompt launched publicly in June 2025 with only 2 published G2 reviews; geoSurge only exited stealth in December 2025 and has no G2 or Capterra history at all. geoSurge is the one clear exception to "young and small," though: a $12M Seed round (announced July 2026, led by AlbionVC with angel investors from Google DeepMind, Microsoft AI and Signal AI) means an unrestricted free MCP tier here isn't a scrappy bootstrap tactic — it's a funded land-grab for the developer/agent-builder audience before the product has any review-platform track record to lean on instead. For a product still finding its footing, shipping MCP unrestricted is a cheap way to court the exact audience — developers and AI-agent builders — most likely to try a new, unproven tool in the first place, whether or not there's capital behind it.

But the pattern doesn't run the other way, and it would be dishonest to claim it does: **one of the six tools that still gate MCP is just as young.** GeoRankers' own cons flag it as "too new for independent verification" — yet its Agent-Ready API/MCP support is reserved for a fully custom-quoted Enterprise tier, with nothing for its $41/mo or $129/mo self-serve plans. Being new and small is common to every tool that shipped MCP unrestricted, but it isn't sufficient on its own to predict one — GeoRankers shows a young vendor can just as easily treat MCP as a premium lever from day one. The more established names in the gated group (Otterly AI, Knowatoa, AIclicks, RankScale, Local Falcon) fit the more intuitive "MCP as upsell" story; GeoRankers is the reminder that vendor age alone doesn't settle it.

## Why this is a real buying question

If you're evaluating an AI-visibility tool specifically so an agent you're building can query it — not so a human opens a dashboard — three things in the table above change which vendor actually fits:

- **"Has an API" and "has MCP" are different questions, and vendor marketing answers the first one far more often.** Every tool with `apiAvailable: true` in our data does not necessarily ship MCP — GeoRankers, for instance, has REST API access only on its custom Enterprise tier, described specifically as "Agent-Ready API (MCP-compatible)," so the two facts happen to move together there, but that's not guaranteed elsewhere. Check the specific claim, not the general one.
- **"Available on every tier" and "usable at your tier" aren't the same thing either.** Goodie AI's MCP connector is technically available on its cheapest $399/mo Explorer plan — but it's read-only and requires the querying party to already hold a paid Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise seat. A buyer without an existing Claude subscription doesn't actually get a usable path, despite the connector being nominally "included."
- **A custom-quoted deal is not a self-serve answer.** RankZero's Claude MCP integration is real and documented, but it only exists inside a fully custom, sales-call-gated managed service — there's no dollar figure or self-serve signup at which you can simply buy MCP access the way you can on Rankshift or Bloomiro.

## What this census doesn't tell you

"Not stated" for 36 of the 58 tools means exactly that — not stated in our sourced research as of this pass, not confirmed absent. Several of those 35 (Profound, Peec AI, Scrunch AI, AthenaHQ) are well-funded, actively-shipping platforms that could add MCP support the week after this runs, the same way RankScale, Writesonic, and Promptwatch each added it as a *new* capability their vendor shipped after their original listing went live on this index — each of those three additions was caught and logged during a routine re-verification pass, not a dedicated MCP sweep. This is a snapshot, and MCP is one of the faster-moving feature claims in this category right now. If a specific vendor's MCP support matters to a purchase decision, confirm it directly against that vendor's current docs before buying — don't treat "not stated here" as a permanent "no."
